Apidren is an over-the-counter diet pill that claims to “jump start weight loss with the confidence you need.” It supposedly helps to increase energy and decrease food cravings and is meant to be used in conjunction with conventional weight loss strategies including following a healthy diet and exercise.
All the ingredients in this dietary supplement have been clinically tested for weight loss. According to the official product page for Apidren, these ingredients have shown in clinical tests that they “help you lose weight and decrease waist circumference.”
At the time that this review was written, the Apidren formula consisted of a CardiaSlim Proprietary Blend (Sphaeranthus indicus extract and Garcinia mangostana extract). One capsule is equal to one serving size and each serving contains 400 mg of the proprietary blend.
Users are instructed to take 1 capsule 30 minutes prior to breakfast and 1 capsule 30 minutes prior to dinner.
Each of these herbs in Apridren’s patented proprietary blend supposedly affects multiple pathways that are a part of the formation and breakdown of fat cells. The official Apidren site states on its Ingredients page that Apidren has undergone three randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies and the studies showed significantly reduced weight, waist and hip size. The site also says the results were presented at the 56th Annual Meeting of the American College of Nutrition, and shows two graphs to illustrate the results.
What the site doesn’t show are links to the actual studies or further citation. Moreover, these ingredients have only be tested, which is not the same as being proven effective for weight loss. What’s more, three studies are not enough to determine the safety or true effectiveness of any ingredient. It should also be noted that neither Sphaeranthus indicus or Garcinia mangostana have been sufficiently researched.
Since this is the case, it can only be concluded that Apidren is an unproven non-prescription weight loss aid. There is no guarantee that taking this product will aid in weight loss or lead to measurable fat loss.
This supplement should not be taken by pregnant or nursing women or anyone under the age of 18. You should also speak with your healthcare practitioner before taking Apidren if you are currently taking medication or have an existing health condition.
When this review was created, a single bottle of Apidren (a one month supply) cost $49.95 + shipping on the official product page and came with a 90-day money back guarantee.
