  • Phen Caps are an over-the-counter dietary supplement

  • Claims to work by promoting weight loss through appetite suppression

  • Also claims to boost energy levels to power through workouts

  • Endorsed by Dr. Karen Vieira, a PhD Biomedial Scientist
  • The official product site states that Phen Caps is “the official alternative to Phentermine.” It has been designed for individuals who would like to experience the weight loss benefits of prescription drugs but who do not want the harsh side effects that go along with it.

According to the official site for Phen Caps, the product states that Phen Caps are meant for a person who is not able to obtain a prescription for weight loss medication; who cannot bear the side effects of these medications; who require some extra assistance when their weight loss drugs wear off; and for those who are taking diet medications and would like an extra boost.

When this review was written, a 30-day supply of Phen Caps (60 capsules) cost $49.95 plus shipping and came with a 30-day 100% money-back guarantee.

The ingredients in the Phen Caps formula are not anything revolutionary or special. In fact, these ingredients can be found in many other non-prescription Phentermine alternative diet supplements on the weight loss market. That being said, the ingredients are: Phenylethylamine (PEA), Caffeine, Theobromine, Caralluma fimbriata, Synephrine, Methylsynephrine, L-Carnitine, Red Raspberry Ketones, Crateagus spp. Extract.

While a few brief details are provided for each of these ingredients on the official site, what is disappointing is that no citations to studies were included to backup any of the claims that were made. Like so many other diet pill product website, the one for Phen Caps goes so far as to provide pictures and product information, but doesn’t provide any solid proof to authenticate the information it has provided.

Something else that is concerning is that while the manufacturer claims Phen Caps has “no side effects”, this is not true. While it may not produce the same risk of side effects as prescription weight loss pills, it still carries a risk of adverse effects, especially since it contains both caffeine and synephrine. The FDA has cautioned that synephrine, a stimulant found in bitter orange, can increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular effects, such as high blood pressure, fainting, heart attack, and stroke, and that this risk is amplified when synephrine is combined with caffeine.

Moreover, this product contains multiple stimulants, which increases the risk of insomnia, jitters, anxiety, mood swings, upset stomach, headache, etc, especially in individuals who have sensitivities to these substances.

Additionally, it is also troubling that the official site claims that Phen Caps may be right for those who are currently taking other weight loss medications. This implies that you can take Phen Caps simultaneously with your prescription diet drugs, which might not actually be safe. Definitely speak with your healthcare provider before taking this product, and especially before combining it with any medication (weight loss or other) or supplement.
