Adiphene

The name of this RDK Global Pharmaceutical product sounds like a fusion of the names of the two prescription diet pills “Adipex” and “Phentermine”. Adiphene has primarily been designed to reduce fat, which the manufacturer claims is made possible through its 12 different ingredients that “help you tackle fat in five different ways.”

The Adiphene Formula

According to the official product page, at the time this review was written, the Adiphene formula consists of:

  • Vitamin B6
  • L-Carnitine HCL
  • Ginger Root
  • Chitosan
  • Glucomannan
  • Cinnamon Extract
  • Cayenne Capsicum
  • Bitter Orange
  • Chromium Picolinate
  • Guarana Extract
  • Ginseng Panax Root Extract
  • Cacao Extract

More specifically, the benefits that these ingredients provide include:

  • Fat burning – Vitamin B6, L-carnitine HCL, and ginger root extract may help to boost your metabolism and quickly burn off excess fat.
  • Fat binding – Chitosan may bind to fat in the stomach, stopping your body from absorbing this fat during digestion. Instead, fat is expelled from the body as waste.
  • Appetite suppression – Glucomannan may reduce the feelings of hunger, which can help a person eat less, which means that they ingest fewer calories.
  • Thermogenic boosting – Cinnamon extract and cayenne capsicum supposedly help to burn off even more calories by using fat as energy to heat up the body.
  • Energy boosting – Bitter orange, chromium picolinate, guarana extract, ginseng panax root extract, and cacao extract are all natural stimulants that can help to increase energy, assisting in the support of maximum fat burning.

Unlike many other product pages for diet pills, Adiphene’s official site contains details about the ingredients within its formula, providing more than a basic ingredients list. Unfortunately, on the other hand, it does not provide any studies to support its claims.

Risk of Potential Side Effects

Additionally, there are a few concerns about this product. The primary one is the risk of potential side effects due to the number of stimulants in the Adiphene formula. Not only does more than one stimulant increase the risk of unpleasant side effects like sleeplessness, heart palpitations, jitters, mood fluctuations, digestive upset, headache, anxiety, etc. but the combination of bitter orange and ingredients that contain caffeine, like guarana extract, can be dangerous.

Bitter orange contains the stimulant synephrine, and the FDA has warned that when it is combined with caffeine it can increase the risk of severe cardiovascular effects, such as heart attack and stroke. Therefore, it is very important for anyone interested in taking this weight loss supplement to first consult with their medical practitioner.

When this review was written, a 30-day supply of Adiphene cost $69.95.

September 2020 Update

Adiphene, like so many other bogus nonprescription Adipex and phentermine alternatives, has been discontinued. Although it is not known why this product failed to be restocked on the virtual shelves of online retailers like Amazon, or why the manufacturer decided to call it quits, there are a few reasons as to why this product may have been discontinued.

For instance, contributing factors may have been:

  • Lack of efficacy evidence – In the above Adiphene review it was noted that while the manufacturer went that extra mile to talk about the ingredients within the formula, at the same time there were no studies or clinical research provided to backup the claims it made about these ingredients. Times change, laws change and the language that is considered acceptable to describe a product can make or break its success. Today’s consumers are not keen on being misled.
  • Side effects – There were many stimulants in the Adiphene formula. As such, the likelihood of users experiencing adverse effects (e.g. sleeplessness, jitters, etc.), even when taken as recommended on the product label, were likely, even for those who weren’t naturally sensitive to stimulants.
  • Cost – A one month supply cost almost $70! Using this diet pill alongside a weight management strategy could become quite costly for the average user. Not to mention, there has always been plenty of competition in the market and plenty of cheaper options.

About the Caffeine and Synephrine Combo

Regardless of the reasons why Adiphene may have been discontinued, it is important to note that it likely wasn’t because it contained both caffeine and synephrine. When the initial review for this product was written, at the time, the FDA did warn that these two stimulants could be a dangerous combination.

However, since then, more research has been conducted on combined caffeine and synephrine consumption in humans, and while longer term studies are needed to assess both the tolerability and efficacy of these two substances used in combination, overall, when used together, they do not appear to result in any more notable adverse or dangerous effects beyond what a person would experience through the consumption of caffeine alone.

That being said, keep in mind that the greater the amount of these substances used within a formula, the higher the potential risk of negative reactions. At the end of the day, it is often best to simply avoid taking diet pills like Adiphene, that contain multiple stimulant ingredients.

SmartSlim

SmartSlim is an herbal supplement from Doctors Designs. This manufacturer claims to develop nutraceuticals targeted for “optimal weight loss outcomes” and provides “comprehensive weight management solutions for health professionals.” SmartSlim is supposedly a powerful blend that works on both the mind and the body.

The Primary SmartSlim Benefits for Weight Loss

This diet pill was created to help people combat hunger cravings and the feelings of wanting to consume everything that is in front of them. According to the makers of SmartSlim, many people who struggle with hunger are not actually hungry. It isn’t food that they crave but the feeling of a “reward response.” However, this is mistaken for hunger, which leads to people consuming more food than they need.

With this in mind, SmartSlim has been made to address this “reward response” by offering benefits including:

  • Thermogenesis
  • Craving Support
  • Mind support

A Look at the SmartSlim Ingredients

When this SmartSlim review was created, the formula was composed of the following ingredients, which were part of a Proprietary Blend:

  • Green Tea,
  • Bitter Orange,
  • Velvet Bean,
  • Sweet-scented Geranium,
  • Sacred Lotus leaf,
  • Nutmeg

In regard to the effectiveness of these ingredients, while they each have been clinically researched, scientists have yet to prove their effectiveness for causing or aiding in weight loss in a meaningful way. Even green tea, which has long been praised for its positive benefits regarding weight loss, is not proven as WebMDWebMD shows there is insufficient evidence regarding obesity research.

Moreover, it is important to note that SmartSlim contains bitter orange which contains the simulants synephrine and octopamine. Although these stimulants have been found to be beneficial for exercise performance in some cases, when combined with caffeine, they can be dangerous.

However, it appears that the only caffeine in SmartSlim is in green tea. Typically, the amount of caffeine in green tea is a minimal amount.

Should You Take SmartSlim?

If you are seeking a non-prescription Phentermine alternative, it is unlikely that SmartSlim will do the trick. There is no evidence to back up the claims that this product can offer craving support. Furthermore, the formula has not been evaluated or approved by the FDA and contains bitter orange, which has a reputation of causing negative side effects.

It would be in your best interest to speak with your healthcare professional if you are interested in taking this diet pill. This is particularly prudent if you are pregnant or nursing, have a known health condition, or are currently taking any medications or supplements to treat a medical issue.

When this review was created for SmartSlim, it could be purchased on Amazon for $49.89.

Weight Loss Pills and Supplements Reviews

Jumpfire Nutrition Fat Burners

Jumpfire Nutrition Fat Burners is a weight loss pill that claims to work fast for both men and women. It is marketed as “premium thermogenic physique sculptor,” and according to Jumpfire Nutrition Fat Burners product page when this review was created, advantages include: elevating mood, supercharging metabolism, appetite suppression, help melting those hard-to-get fat storages, and gives you lasting energy without the crash.

At the time that this Jumpfire Nutrition Fat Burners review was written, the active ingredients within the formula included: Caffeine Anhydrous, Bitter Orange, Niacin, Green Tea Extract, Guarana, N-Acetyl L-Carnitine.

Oddly, it included these same ingredients in its inactive ingredients list. This is bizarre considering an ingredient cannot be both active and inactive, it is one or the other. Moreover, ingredients such as caffeine are never inactive. Caffeine is a drug and has an effect on the body.

That aside, one look at the active ingredients in this over-the-counter (OTC) diet pill, and its clear that the majority of the ingredients are stimulants (e.g. caffeine, bitter orange and guarana). Stimulants, such as caffeine have been found to boost mental alertness. Caffeine can also boost metabolism, particularly when combined with physical activity, and some people have reported feeling less hungry when taking caffeine.

However, there is no scientific proof that taking caffeine or any of the ingredients in Jumpfire Nutrition Fat Burners will aid in or cause measurable fat loss. Weight that you may lose while taking this dietary supplement will be heavily dependent on your diet (how many calories you ingest) and regular exercise.

The suggested use is to take 1 capsule, 2 times per day, 4 to 6 hours apart. For energy pre-workout you can take 1 to 2 capsules per day, 45 minutes prior to exercise. Although it does not say the maximum number of pills you should take within a 24-hour period, it can be assumed that no more than 2 capsules should be exceeded in a day.

It should also be noted that it would be best not to take Jumpfire Nutrition Fat Burners later in the afternoon or too close to bedtime to avoid sleep disturbances or insomnia. One capsule contains 200 mg of caffeine, which is about equal to just over two cups of coffee.

Caffeine, especially when combined with bitter orange (which contains the stimulant synephrine), increases the risk of unwanted side effects, including: sleeplessness, jitters, restlessness, anxiety, heart palpitations, rapid heartbeat and even more serious conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke.

You should speak with your healthcare provider prior to take Jumpfire Nutrition Fat Burners.

When this Jumpfire Nutrition Fat Burners review was written, a bottle could be purchased from the official website for £21.95 (approximately $28.00).

Curb Appetite Suppressant

Curb Appetite Suppressant is marketed as a “natural appetite control formula”. Designed to help you naturally reduce your appetite and hunger, VH Nutrition’s Curb is a dietary supplement that supposedly does not rely on a single ingredient to deliver results. Instead it is “formulated on a proprietary matrix of natural herbs and extracts.”

All the being said, here are the ingredients that were a part of the Curb formula when this review was written: Yerba Mate, Green Tea, Garcinia Cambogia, Hoodia Gordonii, Dandelion Root, Bitter Orange and Irvingia Gabonesis.

The recommended dosage is to take 2 capsules with water every 4 to 6 hours or as needed to control appetite. Users are cautioned to avoid using stimulants in excess while taking Curb because this could cause sleep disturbances, anxiety and nervousness.

With the exception of dandelion root, which reduces water retention, all the other ingredients in this formula are believed to aid in appetite suppression. That being said, more research needs to be conducted to determine the effects these herbs have on the body as well as how safe they are. What’s more, even if the blend of these ingredients should reduce your appetite (although there is no proof that this will happen) this doesn’t mean that you will experience weight loss. You still need to adhere to a calorie-controlled healthy diet and engage in regular exercise if you want to see measurable fat loss occur.

It should also be noted that while on the manufacturer’s official product page for Curb Appetite Suppressant it says that “Curb does not rely on intense stimulants such as Caffeine to control hunger,” this doesn’t mean this product is without stimulants.

On the contrary, the formula contains bitter orange, also known as citrus aurantium. This herb naturally contains a stimulant called synephrine. It is believed to function as an appetite suppressant, metabolism booster and thermogenic (enables the body to burn fat at a faster rate).

That being said, this stimulant can be unsafe, especially when it is combined with other stimulants like caffeine or herbs containing caffeine, such as Yerba Mate and Green Tea (both of which contain caffeine and are used in this product). When taken with caffeine, synephrine can increase a person’s risk of high blood pressure. Combined with caffeine, it can also boost the risk of other stimulant-related effects and, depending on the dosage, may increase the risk of fainting, heart attack and stroke.

Prior to taking Curb Appetite Suppressant, consider speaking with your healthcare professional.

When this review, you could purchase Curb on Amazon for $17.99.

LipaVex

LipaVex, from health and wellness company VH Nutrition, is composed of a natural fat burner formula. The claim for this dietary supplement is that it is a thermogenic hypermetabolizer that promotes fat metabolism, decreases body fat levels, enhances energy levels, and boosts thermogenesis.

When this review was created, LipaVex was composed of a Lipavex Proprietary Blend: Coleus Forskholii Root Extract, Fucoxanthin (Seaweed Extract), Garcinia Cambogia, Bitter Orange (synephrine), Green Tea, Tumeric, Ginger, Cassia Cinnamon, Black Pepper. Each serving size of this formula’s proprietary blend contained 1495 mg and 2 capsules made up a single serving.

For optimal results, users are instructed to take one serving (2 capsules) of LipaVex with 12 ounces of fluid in the morning and once again in the early afternoon. Users are cautioned that consuming caffeine or other stimulants while taking this dietary supplement may cause nervousness or hypertension.

The reason is that the formula contains synephrine, a stimulant that is naturally found in bitter orange. Synephrine can enhance the effects of caffeine, boosting the chance of adverse side effects (e.g. insomnia, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, etc.), even in healthy individuals who do not have sensitivity to stimulants.

As for the overall effectiveness of this product, it supposedly works with your body to decrease body fat and promote metabolic activity. If this is true, the potential thermogenic effects of LipaVex can help you burn fat when combined with a healthy workout. As for its possible appetite suppression effects, it could aid with weight loss by helping you control appetite so that you ingest fewer calories.

All that being said, there is no guarantee that LipaVex will help you lose weight. None of the ingredients in its formula have ever been proven by science to be effective or safe for weight loss. Furthermore, on the official product page, it states that LipaVex can “burn belly fat fast.” Statements like these bring the products integrity into question because there is absolutely no guarantee that it will specifically burn belly fat (if it causes any measureable fat loss at all).

LipaVex is meant for healthy adult men and women. Be that as it may, you should still consult with your healthcare provider before taking this dietary supplement. This is particularly important if you are pregnant, nursing, have a medical condition or are taking any medications. When it comes to your health and finding the best weight loss regimen, it is always best to err on the side of caution.

At the time that this review was written, Amazon sold LipaVex for $27.99.
