Lipozene MetaboUP Plus

Lipozene MetaboUP Plus is a dietary supplement formulated to support weight management efforts by helping to increase metabolism and boost energy. It is a product from Obesity Research Institute LLC, the makers of the popular OTC diet pill Lipozene.

Exclusive Thermogenic Blend

Lipozene MetaboUP Plus advertises that it has an exclusive thermogenic blend. However, simply because something is “exclusive” does not mean that it is good, safe or effective. It simply means that the manufacturer is claiming that no other diet pill has the same exact formula.

When this Lipozene MetaboUP Plus review was written, the formula included the following ingredients:

  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin B12

Proprietary Blend

  • Green Tea
  • Guarana Seed
  • Caffeine
  • Oolong Tea
  • Kola Nut
  • Cayenne
  • Platycodon Root

Lipozene MetaboUP Plus Contains Multiple Doses of Caffeine

This nonprescription diet pill contains several ingredients that are considered to be thermogenics and can help boost metabolism and energy, most notably caffeine. Beyond actually listing caffeine as an ingredient, the formula includes several ingredients that contain caffeine including green tea, guarana, Oolong tea, and kola nut.

On the positive side, caffeine can produce thermogenic effects and has been found to help boost mental alertness. In fact, according to some research, caffeine at commonly consumed doses can have a notable influence on energy balance and may help to promote thermogenesis in the treatment of obesity.

On the not so positive side, while caffeine may be helpful with energy, not only has it not be proven effective as a treatment for obesity, but too much of it can result in unpleasant side effects, such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Jitters
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Insomnia

According to the Lipozene MetaboUP Plus supplement facts label, the total amount of caffeine per serving is 120 mg. However, it is not known if this is referring to only the listed caffeine ingredient in the formula or if this includes all the ingredients within the formula that contain it.

Recommendations

The recommended usage instructions are to take 2 tablets once per day with a minimum of 8 ounces of water. If there is only 120 mg of caffeine per serving (2 tablets), most healthy adults who are not sensitive to stimulants should be able to tolerate this diet pill. That being said, to avoid potential unwanted side effects it would be a good idea to take these pills earlier in the day to prevent the potential for sleep disturbances. It would also be wise to avoid taking other stimulants (beverages, food or other supplements) while taking this product to reduce the risk of negative side effects.

When this Lipozene MetaboUP Plus review was written, a single bottle sold for $25.95 on Amazon. An official product page did not exist.

Phenterex

Phenterex is a nonprescription weight management aid that claims to function as both an appetite suppressant and fat burner. Moreover, not only does it supposedly boost energy, suppress the appetite and burn fat like the prescription diet drug, Phentermine, the claim is that this dietary supplement can also boost thermogenic body heat.

What Phenterex Claims to Do for You

According to the official product page at the time that this Phenterex review was written, those who take the product can expect to quickly lose weight, and reshape their body by:

  • Melting away cellulite
  • Melting away flab
  • Melting away fat

Already, the claims about this product sound a little too good to be true. For starters, while losing weight can help to minimize the appearance of cellulite in certain people, no product has ever been proven to “melt” it away. Too-good-to-be-true promises such as this one leads one to question just how effective Phenterex is for weight loss. To answer this question, it is important to take a look at its ingredients.

A Look Inside the Formula

The Phenterex ingredients that could be found within the formula when this review was created included the following:

  • Vitamin B-6,
  • Theobromine,
  • Iodine,
  • Cayenne Pepper,
  • Chromium,
  • Green Tea Leaf,
  • Guarana,
  • Garcinia Cambogia,
  • Chitosan,
  • Gymnema,
  • Banaba,
  • Calcium Pyruvate,
  • Apple Cider Vinegar,
  • Grapefruit,
  • White Willow Bark,
  • Uva Ursi,
  • Coleus Forskohlii,
  • Juniper Berry,
  • Buchu Leaves

While the official site states that the formula contains “the finest and most premium ingredients that are required for optimal weight loss,” there is no clinical evidence provided to back up this claim. Furthermore, none of these ingredients have been sufficiently studied to be proven effective for weight loss. Since this is the case, there is no actual guarantee that you will lose weight from taking this product.

Potential Side Effects

Furthermore, it should not go unmentioned that certain ingredients within Phenterex may cause adverse side effects in some people. For instance, there are multiple stimulants in the formula, including Green Tea Leaf and Guarana. Stimulants can increase the risk of:

  • Insomnia
  • Heartburn
  • Upset stomach
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Mood changes
  • Dizziness
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Anxiety
  • Restlessness

According to the official product webpage, those who take Penterex should supposedly begin experiencing weight loss within 2 weeks of taking the pills. This pill should be taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise program. At the time that this review was written, a single bottle containing 60 tablets cost $44.98 online.

Don’t Blindly Trust the Claims

Remember, no matter how impressive the manufacturer may make this product sound, there is zero proof that it can help you with your weight loss goals or that it is even safe to take. Moreover, due to the large number of ingredients in the formula, it is unlikely that there are sufficient quantities of each supplement for them to provide any real benefit, even if there was proof that they were effective.

Anyone who is considering taking Phenterex should speak with their medical physician. This is particularly important if you have a known health condition, or if you are currently taking prescription medication, nonprescription products, or herbal supplements.

It is also important to inform your doctor if you are pregnant, nursing a baby or are planning on becoming pregnant. As a general precaution, you should never take any weight loss product without first making sure that it is safe for you to do so.

August 2019 Update: Phenterex is no longer available. An official website could not be found for this product and it was not sold online. It is likely that it has been discontinued, although it may also have been reformulated or is being sold under a different name. Whatever the case may be, it no longer exists as the product reviewed above.

Phen375

This “pharmacy grade” weight loss product has been designed to help make the weight loss process faster and easier.

The official website for Phen375 says that this diet pill has every property that makes the prescription diet drug Phentermine effective in promoting weight loss.

The Benefits of Phen375

This “advanced” formula supposedly offers three primary benefits:

  • Metabolism boosting – Increasing the body’s ability to burn fat.
  • Appetite suppression – Reducing appetite to avoid a buildup of fats in the body.
  • Energy enhancement – Containing strong stimulants, this supposedly helps to give an energy boost to encourage working out.

Moreover, the manufacturer claims that while users can enjoy similar benefits to Phentermine, Phen375 doesn’t have all of the adverse side effects that are associated with the popular diet drug: “Phen375 gives the benefits of Phentermine without the risk.”

What Are the Ingredients in This Diet Pill?

When this review was created, the Phen375 ingredients included:

  • L-Carnitine Tartrate,
  • Caffeine,
  • Calcium Carbonate,
  • Cayenne Capsicum,
  • Chromium Picolinate,
  • Dendrobium Nobile Extract,
  • Citrus Aurantium Extract,
  • Coleus Forskohlii Roots
  • Potassium Stearate

The claim is that each of these ingredients helps to benefit weight loss in some way.

For instance, Caffeine is believed to help suppress the appetite, boost energy and promote thermogenesis, which helps to increase metabolic rate.

Cayenne (or capsicum) is also believed to encourage thermogenesis, which raises body temperature and burns calories, quickly. L-Carnitine helps to burn fat and Citrus Aurantium acts as a natural stimulant that is said to boost metabolism.

Nonetheless despite these claims, there is no clinical evidence that these ingredients or the others in the formula are effective at helping a person lose weight. Therefore, regardless of what the manufacturer might claim regarding Phen375’s efficacy, there is no proof that it can improve weight loss efforts or cause measurable fat loss.

Potential Side Effects

It is important to point out that while Phen375 may not produce negative side effects like Phentermine, this does not mean that it is without adverse effects. This diet pill contains more than one stimulant in its formula which increases a user’s risk of experiencing unpleasant effects.

Among these include:

  • Jitters
  • Insomnia
  • Increased heart rate
  • Mood changes
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Anxiety
  • Rapid heartbeat

Since this is the case, those who take this product should watch their consumption of other stimulants, like caffeine (e.g. cola, tea, coffee), guarana (e.g. energy drinks) and should also make sure they are not allergic to any of the pill’s ingredients.

A single bottle (30 tablets) cost $69.95 at the writing of this Phen375 review. Compared to other similar weight loss products, this is quite expensive.

Prior to taking this OTC diet pill, it is strongly recommended that you consult with your medical practitioner to make sure that it is the right choice for you. This is particularly important if you have a known medical condition or are currently taking any medications (prescription or non-prescription) or herbal supplements to treat a health condition. Your doctor should also be consulted if you are pregnant, nursing or are planning on becoming pregnant.

Overall, the manufacturer makes many unsubstantiated claims about Phen375. Moreover, there is no clinical evidence that it is safe or effective for weight loss. The bottom line: it may be in your best interest to avoid this product and find a better-quality diet pill from a more reputable manufacturer.

MetaboUP Plus

MetaboUP Plus is a thermogenic fat burner that is meant to help increase energy and metabolism. It is manufactured by Obesity Research Institute LLC, a company that is well-known for creating their more popular dietary supplement for weight loss, Lipozene.

MetaboUP Plus contains ingredients that are commonly associated with promoting thermogenesis. This is a naturally occurring metabolic process within the body. During this process, the body burns calories to generate heat. Exercise, diet and environmental temperature are all elements that can trigger thermogenesis. It is commonly believed that thermogenesis can help with weight loss due to its ability to increase the body’s calorie burn.

When this MetaboUP Plus review was written, each serving size (2 tablets) contained the following ingredients: Vitamin B6 (600 mcg), Vitamin B12 (15 mcg) and a Proprietary Blend (952 mg): Green Tea, Guarana Seed, Caffeine, Oolong Tea, Kola Nut, Cayenne, Platycodon Root.

For starters, none of these ingredients have ever been proven effective for weight loss. However, each of these ingredients are believed to offer dieters certain benefits. For instance, green tea is thought to help increase energy levels and improve metabolism, while caffeine helps to increase focus, can maximize fat burning during workouts, and can help to suppress appetite in some people. Guarana is believed to help with memory and mood and alleviate fatigue, and kola nut can also help to prevent fatigue and boost thermogenesis.

In essence, many of the ingredients in MetaboUP Plus are stimulants or contain caffeine. Furthermore, it should be noted that although on the product supplement facts label it says that the total amount of caffeine is 120 mg, it is unclear if this is referring only to the listed ingredient caffeine or if it includes all caffeine that exists within the formula, such as the caffeine in green tea, oolong tea, guarana and kola nut.

It would be better if the manufacturer was clearer about its statement regarding the product’s caffeine amount per serving. The reason being is that if it contains more than 120 mg (which is only slightly more than the amount of caffeine you’d find in a cup of coffee), this is something of which users should be aware.

The recommended use is to take 2 tablets once daily with at least 8 ounces of water. Although it is not stated at what time of day it would be best to take this dietary supplement, it would probably be in your best interest to take it no later than early afternoon to avoid increasing the risk of insomnia or sleep disturbances.

When this review was written, a single bottle of MetaboUP Plus could be purchased on Amazon for $11.95. Prior to taking this dietary supplement, make sure it is a safe and ideal choice for your weight management plan.

Phenelean

Phenelean is marketed as a thermogenic formula that promotes appetite suppression and delivers maximum energy. It comes from Orb Pharmaceuticals. The claim is that its formula is made with strong pharmaceutical grade ingredients and that it has “great thermobolic stimulation and fat burning.”

While this sounds promising, the ad for the product, which at the time of this review could be found on the Pro Muscles Products site, also boldly states that it is a “Phentremine 375 replacement.” It’s obvious that the ad intended to refer to the prescription drug Phentermine and not its typo “Phentremine.” Otherwise, it’s being declared that Phenelean is a replacement for another OTC prescription drug alternative, which wouldn’t make much sense. The point being, if the manufacturer won’t take the time to make sure its ad is free of typos, just how much care and consideration went into making their product?

Phenelean’s supplement facts sheet reveals that each of its capsules is made up of these ingredients: Caffeine, Phenethylamine HCl, Cayenne, Green Tea, Bioperine, Grapeseed Extract, and Amp Citrate.

A brief look at the list of ingredients immediately raises a couple of red flags. For starters, this formula contains multiple and relatively powerful stimulants including caffeine, phenethylamine HCl, and Amp Citrate. These ingredients can increase the risk of adverse side effects including insomnia, jitters, headache, anxiety, etc. The risk of these side effects can be increased or amplified if users combine this product with other foods or beverages containing stimulants.

Furthermore, the verdict on the safety of Amp Citrate, which is also known as Methylpentane, is still out. The problem with this central nervous stimulant is that it is similar to DMAA (1,3-dimethylamylamine), a substance that was banned in 2012 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) because it had been linked to seizures, heart attacks, and death. Amp Citrate works by increasing heart rate, which it achieves by causing blood vessels in certain areas of the body to contract.

At the time this review was written, a one-month supply of Phenelean (60 capsules) could be purchased online for £19.98 ($31.00). The recommended dosage is to take 1 capsule in the morning with water and 1 following lunch with water. No more than 2 pills should be taken per day.

Due to the fact that Phenelean contains one very questionable ingredient and multiple stimulants, you should first speak with your healthcare provider before taking this product. While this advice should be followed by anyone, it is especially important for those who have existing health conditions or who are currently taking medications to talk with their doctor before taking any product for weight loss.

Phentaslim

Phentaslim is a “maximum strength” fat burner that apparently does more than just burn fat. According to the official product page, this dietary supplement from Optimum Nutra Inc. also boosts metabolism, increases energy levels for longer, and suppresses appetite. For best weight loss results while taking this product, it is recommended that you combine it with exercise and a balanced healthy diet.

Users are instructed to take 1 capsule 20 minutes prior to breakfast with water and then 20 minutes prior to lunch with water. When this review was written, a one-month supply (60 capsules), cost $59.95 and was backed by a 30-day, money-back guarantee.

The Phentaslim formula is made up of the following ingredients: Thiamin (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Zinc, Niacin, L-Carnitine, Raspberry Ketones, L-Tyrosine, Caffeine Anhydrous, Green Tea (4:1 extract), Guarana Seed, Panax Ginseng Root, Cayenne.

The ingredients within Phentaslim have been scientifically researched to test their effectiveness for weight loss. Some studies have found that caffeine anhydrous can result in appetite suppression, increased mental focus, and helps to boost metabolism. Other research has shown that green tea and cayenne can help increase thermogenesis and help with fat burning, while guarana seed can increase mood, memory, alertness, and boost energy.

That being said, in spite of what some clinical trials have found, unfortunately, there is no solid evidence that proves any of these ingredients can effectively cause weight loss. Hence, there is no guarantee that this product will cause or aid in weight loss.

On a positive note, it is refreshing to see that this product does not contain synephrine or citrus aurantium (bitter orange), which contains synephrine. The reason being is that this stimulant has been linked to adverse effects in some people, such as stroke and heart attack, especially when combined with caffeine.

However, be that as it may, Phentaslim still contains multiple stimulants (caffeine, gurana) and this can increase the risk of certain negative side effects like sleeplessness, jitters, anxiety, headache, etc. Furthermore, this product also contains panax ginseng root, which can also cause insomnia, an effect that may be heightened by caffeine. Therefore, it is prudent to avoid or limit your intake of caffeinated foods and beverages while taking this product to reduce your risk of adverse effects.

Also, it would be wise to first speak with your healthcare provider before taking Phentaslim to make sure that it is the safe and the right choice for you.
