PhenApex

PhenApex is an over-the-counter weight loss formula that is marketed as an alternative to prescription weight loss drugs, such as an Adipex alternative. In fact, at the time this review was written, the official product page for this dietary supplement stated that “PhenApex is the number one alternative to Prescription of losing weight also maintaining a blend of powerful ingredients.”

That statement was copied verbatim from the site. As you likely have noticed, it doesn’t make much sense because it’s clearly missing a couple of words. This has to make you wonder about the quality of the supplements formula if the content on the site for the product hasn’t even been proofed!

That being said, what PhenApex claims to do is boost metabolism and control appetite. When combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise, it supposedly helps to increase metabolism, and fight stubborn belly fat “without nauseating or harmful side effects.”

Not an Adipex Alternative – No Ingredients List and No Studies

The claims for this “powerful, scientifically engineered formula” that “gives you results” sounds promising, but there is one major problem. While the site boasts all of these claims, they are entirely unsubstantiated. Not only are there no studies to back up the claims, a basic ingredients list hasn’t even been provided.

When this review was written, the official product site for PhenApex didn’t even include a supplement facts sheet. Regardless of the reason why the ingredients have not been disclosed, the fact is that without a list, there is no way to know how safe or effective the product may be. Moreover, it makes one wonder what it is the company has to hide.

Consult with Your Doctor Before Taking PhenApex

Interestingly enough, while its formula appears to be a secret, the manufacturer has no problem selling their product. When this review was created, a 1 month supply (60 pills) cost $55.00.

However, the bottom line is that without listing any ingredients, any claims made about the product have no merit. There is zero percent proof that it works. In other words, don’t waste your money on PhenApex. There are many other OTC alternatives to prescription Phentermine that you can consider.

Just remember that before you take any OTC weight loss aids, you should still consult with your doctor first, even though a prescription is not needed. Many weight loss supplements contain ingredients that may not be suitable or safe for certain people with sensitivities, for those who are currently taking other medications, or those who have an existing health condition.

PhenApex Update – December 2020

Currently, PhenApex is still sold online in both tablet and capsule form. However, the marketing for this product has dramatically changed. Although it was once marketed as an alternative to prescription medications like Adipex, the sales page for this product has since changed its tune and instead focuses on claiming to have a formula composed of scientifically researched ingredients that are a safer alternative to Ma Huang, otherwise known as ephedra.

More specifically, it claims to have a “triple action effect”. This includes:

  • Helping burn body fat
  • Suppressing appetite
  • Providing increased energy

Ingredients List

When the above PhenApex review was written, no supplement facts were provided. This has also changed. Now, the formula’s ingredients have been revealed and these include:

  • L-Phenylalanine
  • 7-KETO (DHEA)
  • L-Taurine
  • Synephrine HCl
  • L-Carnitine

The suggested use is to take this diet pill alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise and to take 1 to 2 pills 30 minutes before breakfast and again before lunch.

Still Not a Trustworthy Product

While it seems that PhenApex has cleaned up its act, at the same time, it still makes unsubstantiated claims by stating its pills will cause certain effects such as appetite suppression and boosting energy. There have been no studies conducted specifically on this product to prove these claims. Moreover, the sales page (not even an official manufacturer site) for this diet pill does not include citations for the studies it mentions regarding the ingredients it has selected for the formula.

Ultimately, it would likely be in your best interest to avoid PhenApex and consider another OTC diet pill from a more reputable business. At the very least, consult with your healthcare provider before taking this product.

PX Pro Xanthine

PX Pro Xanthine is a thermogenic weight management supplement from Finaflex. Claiming to be “the next generation in weight loss supplementation,” this diet pill will supposedly provide you with everything you need to get through your day, including energy, focus, and appetite suppression.

The Power Behind PX Pro Xanthine

What is in the PX Pro Xanthine formula that supposedly makes it such a super thermogenic that can help you power through your day? According to the supplement facts, this formula is composed of an Antioxidant Energy Matrix and Mood Support. Each contained multiple ingredients as follows:

Antioxidant Energy Matrix:

  • Caffeine
  • IrisinXD (Green Tea Leaf Extract and Cocoa Seed Extract)
  • Blueberry Powder
  • Theobromine
  • Theacrine
  • Rauwolifia vomitoria Extract

Mood Support:

  • L-Phenylalanine
  • Schisandra chinensis Extract
  • AMATEA Guayusa Extract
  • Huperzia serrata Extract

The directions are to take 1 capsule (1 serving) 1 to 2 times per day. The first serving should be taken immediately upon waking up and the second serving should be taken 6 hours later. No more than a maximum of 2 capsules should be taken daily. The percent daily values of the PX Pro Xanthine ingredients per serving are based on a 2,000 calorie diet.

Plenty of Stimulants to Give a Boost, But…

The ingredients in PX Pro Xanthine show that there are certainly enough stimulants (caffeine, green tea, cocoa, theobromine, theacrine) that effect the central nervous system to likely increase mental alertness, thermogenesis and metabolism. That being said, due to the fact that they are combined as part of the Antioxidant Energy Matrix, it’s not known how much of each is present in the formula per serving. In other words, there is no telling just how beneficial taking this diet pill might be in terms of providing a safe and effective energy boost that would be useful for weight loss.

That being said, considering the combined ingredients in the Matrix is 453mg – and the majority of the ingredients are stimulants – there is the potential risk of unwanted stimulant-related side effects. This is especially likely if two capsules are consumed daily. For the average healthy adult, ingesting too much caffeine (usually more than 400 mg per day) can lead to unpleasant side effects. Some of these side effects may include:

  • Headache
  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Nervousness
  • Racing heartbeat

Users who take this nonprescription diet pill are cautioned not to consume other products containing caffeine or stimulants while taking it and are warned not to use it for more than 8 weeks consecutively.

When this PX Pro Xanthine review was written, one bottle containing 60 capsules sold for $29.95 on the official Finaflex website.

Phentarmine Tablets

If you have come across Phentarmine tablets, you may have mistaken them for the prescription diet drug Phentermine due to the name and the fact that the tablets are white with blue specks. To be clear, Phentarmine is not the same as Phentermine. Instead, this product has been sneakily been marketed to make consumers believe that it is a non-prescription Phentermine alternative, which it is not.

Phentarmine Tablets May Look Like Phentermine but They’re Not the Same

Phentarmine tablets are very different than the prescription drug it is attempting to mimic. The active ingredient in Phentermine is phentermine hydrochloride, which is a potent drug. The Phentarmine ingredients on the other hand include:

  • L-Phenylalanine
  • Synephrine HCL
  • Theobromine
  • Caffeine Anhydrous
  • Copper Sulfate
  • 7-Keto (DHEA)
  • L-Carnitite
  • L-Taurine

The Supposed Benefits of Phentarmine

The substances used in this formula are believed to aid in weight loss in many ways, such as:

  • Breaking down fat cells via thermogenesis
  • Regulating metabolism
  • Lowering stress
  • Improving circulation
  • Controlling blood sugar levels
  • Increasing energy levels

More specifically, the following is how some of the ingredients are believed to be effective for weight loss:

  • L-Phenylalanine provides appetite control
  • Synephrine HCL boosts energy and provides hunger control
  • L-Taurine is believed to be a natural mood enhancer, energy booster and supports healthy cholesterol levels
  • 7-Keto is said to help with fat burning, weight loss, balance hormones, and improve overall wellbeing

This Diet Pill is Not Guaranteed Effective or Safe

What is most concerning about Phentarmine tablets is that they contain many stimulants, including caffeine, synephrine and l-phenylalanine.

Synephrine has been used in several OTC weight loss formulas as a safer alternative to ephedra, which has long been declared a banned substance. Research initially found that synephrine, which is also known as bitter orange (among other names), had the potential to be quite dangerous to some people, especially when combined with other stimulants, particularly caffeine.

When combined with caffeine it was found to increase the risk of high blood pressure, fainting, heart attack, and stroke. That being said, it has since been found that synephrine is not necessarily as harmful as originally believed. Still, this doesn’t mean that it cannot produce unwanted side effects as it does boost the effects of caffeine, both good and bad.

Moreover, it should also be noted that due to the fact it does contain multiple stimulants, there is also a chance that this diet pill could cause adverse affects in some people, such as:

  • Jitters
  • Headache
  • Mood changes
  • Gastrointestinal upset
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Rapid heart beat

Furthermore, it is recommended that those who have high blood pressure or who suffer from seizures or stroke should avoid this product. Others who should avoid this supplement include anyone taking anti-depressive medication or those taking medication for cardiovascular disease. In any case, it is strongly recommended that you first speak with your healthcare provider before taking Phentarmine tablets.

At the time this review was written, a single bottle of Phentarmine tablets (a 30 day supply) cost $87.00 online + $9:00 shipping and handling.

The recommended dose is two tablets per day, once in the morning on an empty stomach a half hour before breakfast, and one 30 minutes before lunch. The pills should not be taken late in the day to avoid sleep issues.

November 2019 Update – Although Phentarmine tablets are still available (and can also be purchased in a capsule form) it would likely be in your best interest to avoid buying this product. The reason is that there is very little information available about this product, there are no studies cited to prove the ingredients within the formula can be beneficial, and the product page seems focused only on selling the pills. No valuable information about this product has been given and all claims are simply unsubstantiated. You may want to consider choosing another non-prescription diet pill product from a more reputable manufacturer and one with fewer stimulants.

PhenylCaps

PhenylCaps is an all-natural dietary supplement that comes from Preventix Weightloss Systems. It is a synergistic blend of active and supporting ingredients designed to enhance absorption and effectiveness. According to the official Preventix Nutrition product page for PhenylCaps, when this review was written, the benefits of this weight loss aid included appetite reduction, mood regulation, controlling binge and nighttime eating, enhanced mental focus, curbing cravings and hunger, and boosting the body’s natural cortisone. The claim is that this product can also be used when taking Phentermine.

The ingredients in PhenylCaps include Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Pantothenic Acid, and L-Phenylalanine. Each ingredient was carefully selected to create the formula due to their specific effects.

For instance, vitamin B6 is a natural diuretic and mood stabilizer. It may also help to metabolize carbohydrates and fats. It also works to maintain the balance of potassium and sodium, which is important for regulating body fluids.

Vitamin B5 releases energy from fats, proteins and carbohydrates and is the essential part of coenzyme A, which helps the body utilize other vitamins.

As for L-Phenylalnine, it is an essential amino acid that converts into norepinephrine (with the help of catalysts vitamin C and vitamin B6), boosting the production of this neurotransmitter in the brain. Increased production of norepinephrine can reduce appetite because, among other things, this neurotransmitter is responsible for controlling hunger. In addition, Phenylalanine can cause the brain to release the hormone cholecystokinin, which some research has shown can inhibit eating.

All that said, the theory behind this ingredient is that instead of causing appetite suppression through a stimulant effect, as is common with most prescription diet drugs like Phentmermine, L-Phenylalanine has shown that it may produce a similar response, except without the unwanted effects. That being said, its effectiveness in reducing appetite that would benefit weight loss has never been proven.

Furthermore, even though L-Phenylalnine is not a stimulant, it is not without side effects. Common adverse effects associated with this ingredient include: heartburn, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, constipation, headache, anxiety, etc.

The suggested use is to take 1 PhenylCaps capsule with each meal or as directed by your healthcare provider. It is highly recommended that you first speak with your medical practitioner before taking PhenylCaps, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, have an existing medical condition, or are taking any medications, including phentermine.

When this review was written, PhenylCaps could be purchased on Amazon for $29.95.

Diet-Phen

Diet-Phen with St. John’s Wort is a dietary supplement from Source Naturals. It is a weight loss product that has been designed to be used as a part of the Diet-Phen Weight Loss Plan. It has been specially formulated to help support a positive mood, boost mental alertness and assist in weight loss.

Three tablets make up one serving size of Diet-Phen. The ingredients include: Chromium, St. John’s Wort, L-Phenylalanine, Hypericins, Guarana, Acetyl L-Carnitine HCl, Lipoic Acid, Yerba Mate, Green Tea, Resveratrol, Ginger Root.

Users are instructed to take 1 or 2 tablets in the morning, 30 minutes prior to breakfast and one tablet 30 minutes before lunch. No more than three pills should be exceeded in a day and Diet-Phen should not be taken before bedtime because this product contains stimulants (ex. guarana, green tea) and ingredients that boost the effects of stimulants (ex L-phenylalanine). When this Diet-Phen review was written, a single bottle of 180 tablets cost $26.77 on Amazon.

In terms of effectiveness, Diet-Phen contains many ingredients that have been studied for weight loss, such as l-phnylalnine, guarana, green tea, yerba mate, ginger root and so on. Of all these ingredients, green tea and guarana (which both contain caffeine) have shown the most promise in terms of helping with fat loss. Research has shown that when combined with physical activity, caffeine can enhance fat burning, which may be beneficial to those seeking to drop pounds. That being said, don’t expect any miracles if you take this product by itself. A healthy, calorie-conscious diet and regular exercise is key for any effective weight loss program.

In terms of precautions, Diet-Phen is not meant for long term use. It is also recommended that you avoid drinking alcohol when taking this diet pill. Tell your doctor of any previously existing or current medical conditions that you may have. You should also inform your healthcare provider of any medications (prescription or OTC) and supplements that you may be taking to ensure that Diet-Phen is safe for you to take.

As for side effects, anyone with a wheat allergy should not take this supplement as it contains wheat. If you are sensitive to stimulants, you should also avoid taking this diet pill. Stimulant-related side effects that may be experienced when taking Diet-Phen may include, but are not necessarily limited to: insomnia, restlessness, jitters, anxiety, rapid heartbeat, rapid breathing, headache, mood swings, stomach upset, ringing in the ears, etc.

Finally, Diet-Phen contains St. John’s Wort, which can cause negative side effects like vivid dreams, headache, dizziness, tingling, skin rash, anxiety, stomach upset, restlessness and so on. Keep this information in mind if you decide to take this weight loss aid.

FenTrim

FenTrim is a metabolism-boosting, appetite suppressant and energy amplifier, designed to enhance mood and stimulate thermogenesis. It is an over-the-counter (OTC) diet pill from SutraHealth. It is meant to help individuals who are seeking to lose weight, achieve their weight loss goals.

The formula is made up of a proprietary blend that is comprised of several well-known ingredients commonly found in many OTC diet pills on the weight loss market. These ingredients include: L-Phenylalanine, Theobromine, Caffeine, Synephrine HCL, L-Taurine, L-Carnitine (as Tartrate), DHEA (Dedhydoepiandrosterone).

Each of these substances have been studied in one way or another. Some clinical studies have found that some of these ingredients may have the potential to benefit weight loss. For example, research has found that L-Phenylalanine may work to help suppress appetite by blocking the hormone cholecystokinin, which tells the brain when the body’s hunger is satisfied. L-Carnitine is thought to lower body fat and boost energy levels. Among other benefits, Caffeine, Theobromine, Syneprhine, and L-Taurine are also believed to be energy boosters.

Although there is sufficient scientific evidence that proves caffeine can help to increase a person’s alertness, beyond this evidence, there is no clinical proof that any of these ingredients will actually benefit those who take them for weight loss.

Furthermore, it should also be noted that FenTrim contains multiple stimulants or ingredients containing stimulants. The presence of stimulants, especially more than one, increases the risk of unpleasant side effects, some of which may include insomnia, jitters, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, digestive upset, headaches, etc.

In addition, this product contains synephrine, a naturally occurring stimulant in citrus aurantium (bitter orange). This is troubling because synephrine has been found to enhance the effects of caffeine, which may not only increase the risk of certain adverse effects, but also result in much more dangerous side effects, such as fainting, high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke.

Due to the fact that this dietary supplement contains a potentially harmful combination of ingredients, it would be wise to first speak with your healthcare provider before taking it. Anyone with sensitivity to stimulants or who has an allergy to any of this pill’s ingredients should avoid taking FenTrim.

When this review was written, each bottle contained 60 white and blue speckled tablets, which is the equivalent to a 30-day supply. A single bottle of FenTrim cost $35.95 on Amazon. The suggested dose is to take 2 pills, daily (1 tablet on an empty stomach before breakfast and 1 before lunch).

Phentra50

Phentra50 is a non-prescription food supplement. Its formula is comprised of ingredients that will supposedly help reduce fatigue and tiredness, help with normal metabolism of fatty acids, and provide regular carbohydrate metabolism. Based on the name of the product, it is clear that the manufacturer chose this name to draw association to the prescription weight loss drug, Phentermine.

Manufactured by Atom Labs, at the time this review was written, there was no official product page for Phentra50. However, the product could be purchased online for £14.99 ($23.00).

The Phentra50 formula is made up of the following ingredients: Beta-Alanine, Caffeine, Oxyphenylon, L-Phenylalanine, L-Tyrosine, Green Coffee Extract, Vitamin B3, Zinc, Vitamin B2, Vitamine B1.

The claim is that this formula will double the effects of the user’s weight loss efforts, boost exercise endurance and cognitive performance, and lower appetite to prevent unhealthy cravings.

Can it actually do what it says? The key ingredients in Phentra50 have been scientifically researched, and some have shown promise for being beneficial for weight loss. For example, oxyphenylon (raspberry ketone), is believed to be a potent fat burner, beta-alanine may reduce fatigue, caffeine might function as a fat burner, metabolism booster, and as a thermogenic, and green coffee extract is thought to aid the body in managing glucose levels, as well as prevent emotional cravings.

That being said, there is insufficient evidence that any of these ingredients are actually beneficial for weight loss specifically. More research needs to be conducted to determine just how effective (if at all) they actually are.

However, while there is no guarantee that Phentra50 will assist with a dieter’s weight loss efforts, it is likely that it will, at the very least, provide an energy boost, due to the fact that the product does contain caffeine. However, while this can be seen as an advantage, it can also be a disadvantage, as caffeine and other stimulants increase the risk for certain unpleasant side effects including insomnia, jitters, heart palpitations, anxiety, gastrointestinal upset, headache, and more.

Anyone who has an allergy or sensitivities to stimulants, like caffeine, should avoid taking this product. In addition, it would be wise to first speak with your medical practitioner about your intentions to use this product, especially if you have a health condition or are currently taking supplements or medications.

The suggested dosage is to take between 1 and 3 tablets daily, each with a full glass of water. Users are recommended to start with 1 tablet to test their tolerance.
